But, developer Quantic Dream has done just that by bringing Beyond: Two Souls to the PC. And it's on a person-to-person basis when it comes to those who want or don't want to do this.It seems like an unprecedented move to bring a game to the PC platform six years after originally being released on the Playstation 3 and then two years later on the Playstation 4. There's often something you need to fiddle with when it comes to emulation. And you can't connect your Wii U pad to your PC.
My joycons from my Switch refuse to connect to my PC via Bluetooth correctly (huge input latency), so I have to set up my phone through a plugin to use it for motion controls. BUT! The moment you get to the parts you need motion controls for it gets a bit complicated. Works perfectly at 4k60! No bugs, no performance issues. I've tried to emulate it through Dolphin on my PC. A have a disk copy of Super Mario 3d World. I've seen people say it's better on Linux, but I've not tried it myself, so we'll see.Įdit 2: As an example. Emulation is super cool, but it's far, far from the simple plug-and-play experience people on the PC side make it out to be.Įdit 1: Plus, I have my concerns when it comes to OpenGL on AMD hardware, which is super important for emulation. Honestly, I have a very competent PC and have emulated stuff for many years now, but the opinions of people on emulation sound more like platform warring points rather than actual excitement for the possibilities of emulation. Dolphin, while much further ahead, also doesn't play "every single game". Half-Life 1, 2, 2: Episode 1, 2: Episode 2Ĭlick to shrink. Both Ryuujinx and Yuzu are are from being able to play "every single game" from Switch, let alone perfectly (they have official lists for that) + there're are still a lot of performance issues and bugs, even in most popular games + the system requirements for some games are quite high, so we'll see how Steam Deck fares there.Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.Tomb Raider I, II, III, IV The Last Revelations, V Chronicles, VI The Angel of Darkness, Legend, Anniversary, Underworld. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, IV: Oblivion, V: Skyrim. The King of Fighter XIII, 97, 98, 2002, XIV.The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2, Curse of Monkey Island, Tales of Monkey Island.Command & Conquer™ Remastered Collection.Serious Sam HD, Second Encounter, Double D XXL, 3 BFE, 2, 3, 4 etc.Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.Deus Ex (Invisible War, Human Revolution, Human Revolution Director's Cut, The Missing Link, The Fall, Mankind Divided).Sonic Mania, Generations Collection, Adventure DX, Adventure 2, Sonic 1/2/3 & Knuckles/4, 3D Blast.STALKER Call of Pripyat, Clear Sky, Shadow of Chernobyl.Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Blacklist, Chaos Theory, Conviction.Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. This means the following list might just be a small preview of what will be playable on Steam Deck.
Let's hope Valve will be able to resolve the anti-cheat thingy so even more titles can be playable on Steam Deck. Going by Valve's words, almost all of the Steam library (barring those that might have anti-cheat issue) will be playable on Steam Deck. And of course the distinct lack of many Playstation and Nintendo 1st party games. The only down sides is that you'll have to use workaround for exclusives on the usual suspects: Epic, Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft etc. And because Steam Deck's library is tie to Steam, this means no launch drought. Presumably you can also play upcoming next gen exclusive games like Elden Ring, Starfield, Deathloop, Halo Infinite, STRAY, The Medium albeit at lower performance.
I think that's pretty cool, this means you can play classic titles like Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger, to the latest AAA titles like Nioh 2, Control or Monster Hunter World, to indie hits like Valheim or Among Us, to classic and modern PC games like Crusader Kings, Age of Empire 4, Portal 2 or Black Mesa on a portable gaming PC. Right now Steam have over 57k+ games, and will more than likely hit 60k+ by the time the Steam Deck launch.
